Mez is an Eritrean refugee who has lived with Jaz, Nils and Fin’s family for three years now.
After fleeing compulsory military service in Eritrea when he was just 13, Mez crossed the Sahara Desert, the Mediterranean Sea and Europe pretty much all on foot, to make it to the Calais Jungle. From here he hid underneath the Eurotunnel train to make it to the UK, where he was fostered by the O’Haras, becoming their son and little brother.
Since then, Mez has been a constant source of inspiration for The Worldwide Tribe team and our work. From learning English, doing his GCSE’s and even being voted as Prom King against all odds, there seems like there is nothing this boy can’t do.
