Beatrice-Lily Lorigan has been working in the Calais Jungle for the past 10 months, living part time in the camp, and part time in the UK, where she supports refugees who have made it across the border. She works with communities on the ground, with a focus on the small amount of Syrian people in the camp, assisting with everyday tasks and challenges, as well as offering support and friendship to residents of the camp.

Beatrice works with a particular focus on the creative and journalistic; an artist and writer herself, she works collaboratively with people in the camp and in the UK to write, document, and express, shifting the power from a European dominated analysis of the refugee crisis, to the voices of the refugees themselves. Solidarity not charity.
