The importance of accurately portraying EVERY individual story

I recently got this shocking email from a fellow filmmaker:

“Hi Jaz,

I went to Calais myself 2 years ago, as its a short trip from where I am based in Kent.

I didn’t bring much in terms of camera equipment at that time, it was mainly to feed and clothe the people….

But I witnessed an awful event that day…

I watched as a Sky news team forced a Syrian man, who could barely speak English, to repeat the words of the journalist who told him to:

“Say to the camera… ‘I… only… want… to… come… to… England… to… watch… Manchester… United… play… a… football… match… at… their… home… stadium……

This… has… always… been… my… dream…’ ”

To which the Syrian man, after 4 takes, finally pronounced it all correctly, and the Sky news team got back in their van and drove off.

So its great that independent filmmakers are tackling the mainstream media who are trying to undermine their human struggles.”

At The Worldwide Tribe we do our best to bring an authentic voice to the people that we are meeting. We strive to accurately portray every individual story. You Please continue to listen to them. It’s so important!
