Update on our friend Awad

Me and Dan Teuma both received this message from a very good friend of ours, Awad yesterday (well mine said ‘Sister’ not brother haha).

He has been granted Asylum in the UK.

It was the best news we have received in a long time.

We met Awad two years ago now in the Calais Jungle. He had the best house in the whole camp. He built it himself, even putting double glazing in the windows. He always had music playing and people over. We would often go and visit him and drink coffee and the boys would smoke lots. We’d chat about life, music, dreams and ambitions.

Awad had a lot of dreams and ambitions…

And yesterday one of them, a very big and important one came true.

Awad is amazing. SO clever…he speaks multiple languages and has a deep understanding of not only politics, but of the heart. Being human, being gentle, kind and humble. He always looked out for everyone around him. volunteering in the warehouse, helping with distributions and basically running one of the smaller camps that popped up after the Jungle was demolished.

Dan said to Awad:

“Although we don’t see each other much with me working in Greece, I know we will always share a really special bond.

Bro, I wish you all the best in your new life. Long overdue but better late than never. Grab life with both hands and live it to the fullest. Try and reclaim some time that was stolen from you.”

We love you Awad!
