The Aftermath

Nine months ago I naively visited the Jungle in Calais for the first time, with no idea what to expect…

I was overwhelmed with the hospitality, kindness, courage and most of all, love that I found there.

Since then, we have watched this special place grow. Not only the population, the infrastructure, the amount of volunteers and support, but most importantly, beautiful friendships.

With thousands of pounds, hours and pairs of hands, dignity was slowly being restored for the inspirational and heroic residents…

Until a month ago, when heartlessly, cruelly, it was all taken away. Methodically and brutally destroyed, not just homes, but hope…

These actions stripped many of the only thing they had left in the world, with no concern given for their future…

The authorities even bulldozed the Women and Children’s centre..the result..129 children are missing.

This film shows the aftermath of the destruction, but also, the glimmer of hope demonstrated in a new camp in Dunkirk, home to 1500 refugees. Unfortunately, thousands still remain homeless through France…their futures uncertain…

We continue to support our friends in the Calais Jungle and beyond.
