I Don’t Want It

I don’t want there to be a refugee camp in Calais.

I don’t want people fearing the winter, with no shelter or food or fair living conditions.

I don’t want the people of our time, who are fleeing the tragedies happening in our world, to be met with obstacle after obstacle, hostility and more pain.

So who does want this? And why is it happening?

I want the jungle to be a distant memory, a thing of the past, a part of history at which we hang our head in shame. I want the tents to be empty, the land to be deserted, the people to be free.
