It’s two and a half months now since our first trip to the Jungle refugee camp in Calais, and we are ready to share the trailer of our documentary with you….
Two and a half whirlwind months of craziness. Thousands of people wanting to donate, to volunteer, to help. Thousands of pounds raised, thousands of emails and calls, media enquiries, messages of support. But still thousands of people living like animals in a ‘camp’ just 40 minutes by train from England.
The place where I have found the most peace, felt the happiest and the calmest, over these few months, is in the camp. This is because, despite the situation, despite the journey, the memories, the loss, the frustration, the cold, the hunger, the fear, the bleak future, people are still full of hope, positivity and love.
Eating here, sleeping here, laughing and crying here, I have formed friendships with the most inspirational, heroic people I have ever met.
Every single person I have spent time with in the camp deserves the chance to be a productive member of society.
We are all the same, we are all human, we all live on the same world, look up at the same sky, we all deserve the same opportunities and chances.
I’ve said it before but i’ll say it again, turning our back on the people living in this camp, literally right on our doorstep, is unforgivable.
This is the trailer for the intimate documentary we have spent the last two and a half months filming, in the hope of giving a voice to those who need to be heard, providing some answers amongst the misconceptions and hopefully inciting some compassion. What would this world look like if we were all a little kinder to each other?
Why don’t we try….
Please share the love, spread the word and be part of the change.
