Some people have been worried by reports of donations in the camp being burnt. People are very quick get angry about such claims, and I just wanted to mention what we’ve been experiencing first hand.

Yes, the jungle has seen a rise in distributions and donations (which is AMAZING), but need is still very much there. People are still queuing for food and shoes, tents and sleeping bags for hours.

But many donations are really crazy. High heeled shoes are not the one and people also need fuel. It’s getting colder and they’re living outside, not to mention the comparison of the climates they are used to!

I haven’t actually seen anyone burning donations, but I have noticed more discarded items littered around the camp. At our drop days we’ve even found bikinis! Just putting out another perspective on this. Most of the donations we are getting are going directly to those who really, truly need them and are VERY well received! The rest, we have been taking to charity!
